Mindfulness meditation

See and understand reality exactly as it is, for only by doing so you can see all the beauty and magic that life offers.

As you can see, meditation is probably the most important skill you can develop as a human being, because it is the teaching of how to connect with reality. If you’re not mindful of what you’re perceiving, you’re basically not mindful of reality, and you’re living in your imagination. Then your life is just flowing through your fingers. I say grasp it!

What is Mindfulness

Mindfulness = experiencing reality exactly as it is.

It’s your never-ending fantasies and “how the world should be” that cut off your sense of reality. You’re caught up in conceptual life. So what Mindfulness is about is putting you back in touch with what’s really, not what you’re imagining, judging, thinking, but what’s really true right this very second.

Yes, we survived mainly because our mind’s full-time job is being always alert. But everybody hates full-time jobs. Even your mind. Just give it a break. It’ll thank you in a long run and you two will surely become best friends. So how to soulbond with your mind? Here you go!

How to Meditate

Our job is to develop a meditation habit. So how to do this?

  1. Set aside a timer. I recommend 10-15 minutes every day.
  2. Straighten your back. This will keep you awake.
  3. Concentration time. Before you start meditating, do the breathing meditation for approx 2 minutes. Bring your attention to the physical sensation of breathing – the air moving through your nose or mouth, the rising and falling of your belly, or your chest. This will make the Mindfulness meditation itself more intense and it’ll improve your concentration.
  4. Focus. Here you have 3 options. You can focus on your sight, hearing or feeling. It means that you pick one of these and shift your attention on that. Imagine for a while that nothing else exists. Just the sensations that are in the field you chose.
So let’s say you chose sight. Then the only things you perceive are in your visual field. Choose something and focus on just that. It can be f. e. your lamp, pencil, or a guitar. Then savor the experience. How does it look like? Is the surface smooth or rough? Don’t answer the question, they are here to help you realize what is it that we are trying to focus on. The same applies to hearing and feeling.

Let me end this article with another challenge for this week.

The next week you will concentrate on the Mindfulness meditation. Make it your main habit. Every morning, set aside a timer and start practicing. After a week you can share your progress in comments. I wish you the best of luck and the most beautiful rest of your day. 🙏
